Spring Work

One of our less exciting finds was bats in the attic.  No one wants rabies, so we sealed up any little hole. You'll read more later about the bats.  They're harmless and contained at this point, but it's still a little unnerving.

Cute little car under cute little apple tree.  I have to admit, the car is growing on me.  Now, if only it would start!

Hooray for a completed kitchen wall!  I finally finished it.  My next blog post will be room updates so you can see the befores and afters.

Much more charming kitchen without the wood paneling.

Justin pours a new concrete step.

Going against all of his instincts, Justin appeases me and carves our initials right in the middle of the step.

So romantic!

That's what we've been looking for!

These are the two mugs that came with the house and that we use every day.  I've started calling Justin Fred.

Tearing down the lathe and plaster from the ceiling is a major, messy pain in the...

A little tin sign, pokes out from under the ceiling boards...

Turns out to be an awesome sign that someone saved, about 6" by 14".  Could this be what we name the farm?  The caption is fitting!

Heidi continues to make a big fat mess.

Meanwhile, Justin mows with an attractive bug net on his cute little head.

Am I getting anywhere on this project?  Now, I've got to take down the battens from the ceiling.

We finally take a break!  It's Memorial Day!

Hungry birds get a refill from Justin, AKA Snow White.

This picture doesn't show it too well, but we have a "little" structural issue in the lower barn.  Summer project.

View from under the lower barn where we'll spend a bit of time beefing up the supports this summer.

The chicken coop is the building that's in the worst shape.  It's still cute though...we think it would make a cool future sauna.

Looking out over a freshly mowed lawn.

Fresh flags for Memorial Day.

Rhubarb!

Ready for pie!

Memorial Day setup.

Fiddleheads, a local treat!

Landry wall is done...and we have laundry again!

This wall included plumbing, electrical work and carpentry.  And everything works!  Ok, ok, Justin, I guess you know what you're doing.

John Deere joins the family + the start of the kitchen and laundry rooms.

The mower shopping is a big deal.  Thus, the ridiculous documentation of the experience.

Ah...Tractors.

Justin falling in love (with the tractor, not the salesman; though he was very nice)

The fun room.  John Deere everything.

The wall before the laundry room.

The kitchen wall after paneling, before plaster and paint.

Spider haters, beware!  Don't worry, he wasn't as big as he looks.

Special delivery.  Very special.

Can you see Justin's grin?

Move over Prius, there's a new vehicle in town.

I guess I won't be driving.

The view from the cart.

We really do have more lawn than this.

Girls' Weekend

Girls weekend!  Mina and Erin keeping warm by the fire.

The willow is just starting to notice it's spring!

Woo hoo!  As Justin reminds me, that's 100 degrees warmer than it was this winter!

Our local antique shop is awesome.  George Washington is now in our house and will be the centerpiece for one of the rooms...

Spring has spring at the lower barn.

Time to cut the grass.  I guess we need a mower!

The birds clean the feeder out once a week!  Amazing!

Borrowed the neighbors mower.

Sneak peek.

A little grape hyacinth (and Mina in the background).

This looks dangerous, but Erin did split some wood.

And back for more!

Bountiful breakfast on a sunny porch!

Hooray for the sun!

A walk on the railroad tracks behind the house.

The farm.
