Spring Work

One of our less exciting finds was bats in the attic.  No one wants rabies, so we sealed up any little hole. You'll read more later about the bats.  They're harmless and contained at this point, but it's still a little unnerving.

Cute little car under cute little apple tree.  I have to admit, the car is growing on me.  Now, if only it would start!

Hooray for a completed kitchen wall!  I finally finished it.  My next blog post will be room updates so you can see the befores and afters.

Much more charming kitchen without the wood paneling.

Justin pours a new concrete step.

Going against all of his instincts, Justin appeases me and carves our initials right in the middle of the step.

So romantic!

That's what we've been looking for!

These are the two mugs that came with the house and that we use every day.  I've started calling Justin Fred.

Tearing down the lathe and plaster from the ceiling is a major, messy pain in the...

A little tin sign, pokes out from under the ceiling boards...

Turns out to be an awesome sign that someone saved, about 6" by 14".  Could this be what we name the farm?  The caption is fitting!

Heidi continues to make a big fat mess.

Meanwhile, Justin mows with an attractive bug net on his cute little head.

Am I getting anywhere on this project?  Now, I've got to take down the battens from the ceiling.

We finally take a break!  It's Memorial Day!

Hungry birds get a refill from Justin, AKA Snow White.

This picture doesn't show it too well, but we have a "little" structural issue in the lower barn.  Summer project.

View from under the lower barn where we'll spend a bit of time beefing up the supports this summer.

The chicken coop is the building that's in the worst shape.  It's still cute though...we think it would make a cool future sauna.

Looking out over a freshly mowed lawn.

Fresh flags for Memorial Day.

Rhubarb!

Ready for pie!

Memorial Day setup.

Fiddleheads, a local treat!

Landry wall is done...and we have laundry again!

This wall included plumbing, electrical work and carpentry.  And everything works!  Ok, ok, Justin, I guess you know what you're doing.

  1. instead of sealing up the hole you should have gone up and gained a serious fear of the bats, conquered your fear years later, and then created a crime fighting persona based on them. maybe you could use the attic to store your car and helicopter.

i suppose it's too late now, but still. just a thought.

  2. Love that car! A sauna would be awesome in the chicken coop. I second Traces general idea to stash some sort of high-tech lair within the confines of a low-tech barn or something. You should throw a halfpipe in there for good measure. Man, I really wish we could find a way to make it out there. Keep the updates coming!
